STEM Summer Externship

Interested in learning more about the business world so that you can better educate your students regarding potential career paths? Want to earn $5,000.00 while doing so? If the answer is yes, the STEM Summer Externship application is now open!

The Externship program places public school teachers and career counselors who are interested in working 200 hours over the summer in local businesses to learn workforce needs firsthand. Forty-four externs have been placed over the last two summers in organizations that included engineering, health care, high tech, manufacturing, television news, environmental research, recreation, public relations, government, and marketing. Applicants indicate areas of interest and then are matched with potential businesses in their area. Interviews are conducted in March with final placement by April 1st. Hours must be completed between June 1, 2021 and August 31, 2021, with the actual schedule being mutually agreed upon by the extern and the host site.

To learn more about the program, please visit the externship webpage and click on Extern Resources and/or read last summer’s Blogs. If you are interested in applying and already have an account set up with STEM AC, click on Apply Now. Otherwise, you can Create a New Account by following the instructions when you click Create Account Instructions. Either way, don’t delay as the application closes February 12, 2021.

Max Funding per applicant: $5,000.00

Application Closes: February 12, 2021
